October is Geriatric Pet Wellness Month

Bringing awareness to your pet's golden years.

If your pet is 7 years old – in reality it is almost 50!  Because your pet is aging so rapidly, major health changes can occur in as little as six months. Many pets that appear healthy upon a yearly physical exam may quickly develop an underlying illness.   Once symptoms appear the condition may be difficult to diagnose and costly to treat.  That is why a twice a year senior wellness exam plus a geriatric pet wellness work-up can help prevent problems before they become life threatening.

Do you know how old your pet is?

Visit our "Best Friend Care" page and find out.

Aging is NOT a disease.  Regular dental care, proper nutrition and blood work can help detect many early-stage illnesses and provide a baseline for measuring changes.  By taking these early detection steps, you will add vitality to your pet’s life and give your best friend every opportunity to live a long, healthy and happy life.

Our Geriatric Wellness Program is just one element

of a complete work-up we offer to promote your older pet's health.

Visit our Geriatric Pet Wellness Page

There you will learn the many ways to keep

your Senior pet living strong.

All Pet Lovers Need to Consider Pet Insurance

For most of us, pets are not only furry animals, but they also are our closest friends. Given that we can't see ourselves without them, it is necessary to look into pet insurance.  Some people assume that this is completely ridiculous, but those who have been able to save their pet’s life because of it, would disagree.

Consider this scenario; it's a pet owner's worst nightmare: Your cherished pet is suffering in pain and you're faced with the agonizing choice of paying a veterinary bills that perhaps you can't afford or putting your pet to sleep.

Pet insurance can also extend and improve your pet’s quality of life.  Advances in veterinary medicine mean pets can live longer, more rewarding lives. With an insurance policy, pet owners are free to make optimal healthcare decisions for their pets, focusing on their well-being and longevity rather than on veterinary costs.

There are a number of reputable insurance companies available depending on your (pet’s) needs.  Some plans are as little as $15 a month.

Here are questions you can ask about perspective plans:

  • Can you use any veterinarian?
  • Does the policy cover a particular pet’s medical needs?
  • What are the policy’s conditions and exclusions?
  • Does it offer a multiple pet discount?
  • Does the plan cover any congenital or pre-existing condition?
  • What is the waiting period?

For additional information visit our “Health Calendar” page.
