Welcome to the Veterinary Services home page. We hope that you enjoy this site and that it helps you to know more about our hospital and our wonderful staff.

Our goals for this web site are to introduce ourselves, educate you regarding timely topics in veterinary medicine and to entertain you with some of our unusual cases. Pets, as well as children, get into the darndest situations! We also want to keep the lines of communication open by being accessible. Drop by anytime to visit us. We welcome your pet photos and personal stories. There’s a reason why so many of our patients have been with us for years. We provide compassionate and exemplary service because we care.

Veterinary Services was the first established veterinary hospital in Aiken. It was started in 1950. It has been an AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association) certified hospital for 32 years. In 1998, we were recognized as a four year AAHA hospital. We are very proud of this distinction! Only 17% of the veterinary hospitals in the U.S. are AAHA approved and only 2% of these are four year approved. Every four years we must pass a rigorous inspection by an individual from AAHA who is certified in practice management and licensed in veterinary medicine. We must also complete a 900 question document on every aspect of the hospital’s services and facilities. It is an exhausting three months of preparation and one week inspection.

Very specific standards in housekeeping, record keeping, diagnostic services, nursing care, emergency services, etc. must be met. AAHA is the only voluntary inspection service for veterinary hospitals. To be certified as a member says that we are the best that a veterinary hospital can be. We proudly display this symbol of excellence.

We are a full service animal hospital offering everything needed for good quality animal care. We stress basic, logical healthcare (vaccines, deworming, heartworm and flea prevention) as well as internal medicine, surgery, grooming, boarding and nutrition. Our emphasis is on preventative health care and education. We believe that an educated client will have a healthy, long- lived, happy pet.

We stress preventative health care by offering extensive diagnostics (wellness blood profile, x-rays, EKG, blood pressure testing, eye pressures, and more). We work closely with Board certified Internists and Surgeons at the S.C. Surgical Referral Clinic in Columbia, S.C. We also refer to the Animal Rehabilitation and Fitness Center in Aiken to aid in surgical rehabilitation and special cases requiring alternative treatment modalities.

Emergency services are offered to our clientele with an Answering Service contracted to locate us. Cameras are located throughout the clinic for security as well as enabling us to monitor our patients after hours from our own homes. House calls can also be arranged.

Laser Surgery & Lab

       X-Ray Room

Laser surgery, as well as conventional surgery, is offered. Benefits of decreased surgical complications and quicker recovery result. Our monitoring techniques (respiration, blood pressure and heart rate) are exemplary. Each patient is closely watched by their own technician, warmed by a heating blanket and receives intravenous fluids, during surgery and in recovery. We suggest personalized pain relief regimens to speed recovery, shorten hospital stays and improve quality of life.

We are a  state-of-the art hospital offering on-site laboratory diagnostics, x-ray and contrast studies, heart evaluations, EKG, blood pressure and heart monitoring.

Dentistry

Dentistry is a critical component of our preventative health care. Our technicians are trained Hygienists who have attended advanced veterinary dentistry programs. A new dental machine enables us to do extractions and root canals. Our expanded products of antibiotic cement, enamel sealants and dental toys promote better health.

We feel good nutrition is an integral part of keeping our patients

well and happy. Our competitively priced food line includes

Please be advised that starting the first week of November 2007

Veterinary Services will no longer be a supplier of Eukanuba brand Pet foods.

Be assured that the discontinuation of this product is NOT due to the recent pet food recall.

The Eukanuba brand foods we have carried and used in our kennels,

have been safe and pose no danger to your pet.

Therefore any product that you may still have DOES NOT need to be discarded or returned.

Upon further research we have decided to replace the Eukanuba product with Hill's Science Diet

& Hill's Prescription diets which offer the same fine quality and pricing that our costumers have come to expect.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.
